WELLINGTON NORTH – The Township of Wellington North is pleased to announce the re-opening of a portion of the West Luther Rail Trail, following significant improvements that enhance accessibility and enjoyment for the community.
Approximately 5.5 kilometres of the trail, from Wellington Road 16 to the East-West Luther Townline, has been widened to between 15-17 feet the entire length, and the trail has been resurfaced to create a safer and more comfortable experience for walkers and cyclists. In addition, benches are being installed along the trail, offering convenient spots to rest and take in the scenic views.

Councillor Steve McCabe addresses the crowd of about 40 people gathered for a ribbon cutting at the trail on Thursday, November 6.
This project was made possible through a generous family donation, whose support ensured these upgrades could be completed. A ribbon cutting to celebrate the completion of the improvements was held on Thursday, November 6 at the trail entrance on Sideroad 15.

“The Township of Wellington North is extremely grateful to our donor for making these trail improvements possible,” said Mayor Andy Lennox. “As a small municipality, we are fortunate to have great organizations, volunteers and community members step up to partner with us on several projects, including this one. Without this support, we would not have this greatly enhanced trail today.”
Residents and visitors are encouraged to explore the trail and enjoy the natural beauty of Wellington North. Whether for a brisk walk, a leisurely bike ride, or simply a moment of relaxation, the West Luther Rail Trail is ready to welcome you back.
