ARTHUR – The Township of Wellington North has reached an agreement with the County of Wellington to purchase the former County works yard located at 399 Eliza Street in Arthur.
The property became surplus to the County’s requirements with the opening of the new Arthur Garage on Wellington Road 109 in May 2025.
Under the purchase and sale agreement, the Township will acquire the property for $450,000.
This site will serve as a Township operations yard for the next several years while staff continue to assess and plan for the long-term facility needs of both Arthur and Mount Forest.
Following some initial improvements, it is hoped the site will be ready for Township use during the 2026-2027 winter season. The Township also plans to continue using of the existing works yard in Arthur for much needed indoor storage of equipment and vehicles.
This purchase is both a practical and strategic opportunity that will not only improve current service delivery but creates opportunity for the Township to plan for future community needs as well.
