WELLINGTON NORTH – Following a vote conducted through the Ministry of Labour, the Ontario Labour Relations Board has confirmed that a majority of employees within the works/roads department, recreation department, and non-management office employees have voted to terminate the representation rights of CUPE.
As a result, these positions will no longer fall under CUPE representation, and the existing collective agreement will no longer apply. These employees continue to play an important role within the Township of Wellington North, supporting the ongoing delivery of services without interruption.
“This decision was made by the employees, and the Township respects their choice,” said Brooke Lambert, Chief Administrative Officer. “It brings to a close the formal relationship between the Township and the union for these groups. That said, our commitment to supporting and valuing our staff remains unchanged. These team members continue to play an important role within the organization, and their dedication to the community is as strong as ever. Residents can expect services to continue without interruption, with operations proceeding as usual.”
While the change in union representation is formal, these employees continue to be an essential part of the Township of Wellington North team and will carry on with their roles without disruption. The Township remains focused on maintaining seamless service delivery and ensuring residents experience the same level of care and support.
