Notice: Main Street (Highway 6) Connecting Link Rehabilitation Project (Mount Forest) Notice of Construction Update #2

Please be advised that Cox Construction Limited, has begun preparations for the rehabilitation of Main Street, between Queen Street and Sligo Road. The anticipated start date is Monday August 11, 2025, and it is expected to be completed by October 3, 2025.

Main Street will remain open to through traffic at all times, but there will be temporary lane closures that will interrupt the flow of traffic and parking. Some side streets will be closed to traffic for short durations to accommodate the planned works (e.g., for replacement of sewers and watermain at Durham Street East and Durham Street West), and advanced notice of temporary closures will be advertised on the Township’s website. Access to some driveways will be unavailable for short durations (e.g., during curb or sidewalk work), and the Contractor will provide advanced notice to affected properties. Some water customers will experience temporary daytime water shutdowns to accommodate the planned watermain work. Affected customers will be given advanced notice of the scheduled days and times when this will happen.

It is noted that surface asphalt milling and surface paving operations will be taking place at nighttime between the hours of 6:00p.m. and 6:00a.m. Advance notice of nighttime work will be advertised on the Township’s website and future construction notice.

Regarding garbage and recycling: On your designated waste and recycling collection days, please put your bags and recycling boxes at the standard roadside pick-up location by 7 a.m. If required, construction staff will pick them up and move them to a designated pick-up location as coordinated between Cox Construction Limited and the County of Wellington Solid Waste Services Division. Cox Construction Limited will return your recycling boxes to your property. Please ensure your recycling boxes are clearly marked with your civic address.
