Media Release: Wellington North receives funding from Ontario’s Seniors Community Grant

Province to provide up to $25,000 for Wellington North’s Tech & Trek: Adventures, Connections, and Learning Program

WELLINGTON NORTH – The Township of Wellington North is pleased to announce that the Ontario Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility will provide up to $25,000 in funding through the Seniors Community Grant 2025-26 program to support seniors programming in Wellington North.

The Township will utilize the funding to deliver the Tech & Trek: Adventures, Connections, and Learning Program. This program is designed to create meaningful connections, promote inclusion, and support lifelong learning:

  • Community Bus Trips: These trips will help seniors attend events and activities they may not otherwise be able to access, providing opportunities for social connection and community involvement.
  • Intergenerational Events: By bringing together seniors and local youth in a welcoming environment, these events will promote mutual understanding and shared experiences across generations.
  • Drop-In Technology Sessions: These sessions will offer seniors a chance to build confidence with technology, ask questions, and receive one-on-one support in a safe, judgment-free space.

“The Township of Wellington North is very grateful to the Province of Ontario for its support of this program,” said Mayor Andy Lennox. “The Township was fortunate to receive funds through this program in 2024-25, and the response from our community was overwhelmingly positive.

“Seniors are a vital part of our community, and to be able to offer these services to them through the Tech & Trek program is much appreciated.”

“The Seniors Community Grant Program is helping protect the well-being of seniors by providing opportunities for greater social inclusion, volunteerism and community engagement. We’re honoured to support the Township of Wellington North’s Tech & Trek: Adventures, Connections, and Learning Program that empowers seniors to explore, connect and grow,” said Raymond Cho, Minister for Seniors and Accessibility.

“Our seniors help build our communities and province,” said Matthew Rae, MPP for Perth-Wellington. “Our government continues to support these important senior programs, ensuring our seniors can enjoy their golden years, while staying active and healthy.”

Programming will begin this summer, concluding in March 2026.
