WELLINGTON NORTH – The Township of Wellington North is proud to announce the launch of its 2025 Business Retention and Expansion (BR+E) Project, in partnership with the County of Wellington. This initiative is designed to support downtown businesses by gaining a deeper understanding of their needs, goals, and future plans.
“Local businesses are the backbone of our economy and community,” said Robyn Mulder, Economic Development Officer for the Township of Wellington North. “Their resilience and dedication through recent challenges have been inspiring, and this project is about ensuring they have the support they need to thrive.”
The BR+E Project will include a series of approximately 30-minute interviews with local business owners. These conversations aim to:
- Identify the needs, concerns, and opportunities of existing businesses.
- Understand future plans related to expansion, relocation, or retention.
- Establish stronger communication between the Township and business community.
- Introduce the County’s Economic Development Division as a resource for growth and project support.
- Gather insights on goals and interests related to downtown revitalization.
All responses will remain confidential. A summary of the findings and recommendations will be shared publicly and presented to both Municipal and County Councils.
Businesses will be contacted soon to schedule interviews, and all participants will be invited to a Business Breakfast later this year where the results will be shared.
This project is made possible with the support of the University of Guelph and the Mitacs Accelerate Program.
