The Township of Wellington North Municipal Office houses the Administration, Clerk’s, Recreation, Operations, Building, Treasury and Economic Development offices.
The Building Department is responsible for:
- Inspections (Construction and By-Law Enforcement)
- Permits (Building, Plumbing, Renovation, Demolition, Pool Fencing, Septic System)
- Property Standards By-Law and By-law Enforcement

Clerk's Department & Administration
The Clerk's Department provides support to Council, Standing Committees, Committee of Adjustment and Advisory Committees and provides services in accordance with Provincial legislative requirements including the registration of births and deaths and the issuance of marriage licenses. In addition, the department maintains the Township's corporate records and processes requests under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and Commissioning of Documents. Finally, the Clerk's Department is responsible for the maintenance of interment rights information and burial records of Township owned cemeteries. Chief Administrative Officer
The role of the Chief Administrative Officer is to provide support to Council in its policy, planning, budgeting, community relations and economic development work. The CAO acts as principal policy advisor to Council and its Committees, as well as liaison between staff and Council, ensuring that staff adequately implement and administer the policies that are determined by Council. As Head of Staff, the CAO is responsible for the overall management of the Township's operations, including human resources and staffing matters. The CAO ensures that service delivery and general government operations are carried out in compliance with the approved budget and in a cost efficient, effective and customer friendly fashion, meeting all statutory obligations and municipal standards. Working closely with other Department Heads that report directly to the CAO, the CAO maintains a high level of communication and coordination between departments on policy and operational issues.

The Human Resources Department touches all facets of the organization as a strategic partner and value driven centre concentrated on the delivery of innovative employee-focused services. In 2012 we worked very closely with Wellington County and all seven Municipalities to create a County-wide Economic Development Strategic Plan. This strategic plan was approved by Wellington County Council on November 29th 2012 and identified four Strategic Objectives:
- Support programs that contribute to the sustainability and competitive position of the County
- Build awareness of the County’s economic development goals
- To foster an environment and culture conducive to entrepreneurial activity and growth
- Promote a collective understanding of the role resource and infrastructure investments play in ongoing community prosperity

The Operation Department for the Township of Wellington North maintains the following municipal infrastructure; roads, sidewalks, storm sewers, water treatment and distribution and sanitary sewer collection. Energy Consumption and GHG Emissions
This report shows the amount of energy used and greenhouse gases (GHG) emitted for the Broader Public Sector, i.e., municipalities, municipal service boards, school boards, universities, colleges and hospitals.
Public agencies play an important role in helping Ontario meet its conservation targets and reduce Greenhouse Gas emissions. Beginning July 1, 2013 the Green Energy Act, 2009 requires Ontario’s Broader Public Sector (BPS) to report their annual energy use and Greenhouse Gas emissions every year to the Ministry of Energy.
The Township of Wellington North processes Zoning By-law Amendments and Minor Variance applications. Official Plan Amendments and Land Severances are handled through the County of Wellington. Application forms must be completed and accompanied with the required fee prior to a public meeting and consideration by Council.
